bad deal..

#1 Post by ogri48 » Fri Aug 12, 2011 8:07 pm

a strange one this, i will never understand it..
months ago, advertised for a longer barrel for my .22.
maggy basher came back to me with a standard 16, but a leupy, for £100.
said yes, paid instantly via paypal, he sent the barrel out straight away. i put it to one side as was still working on my first gun, the leupy was going on the second.
some weeks later, pulled the barrel out and took it around petes..he said"mate, that aint a leupy.."
took it around trevs to confirm and yes, its a standard theoben.
so i pm maggybasher, he says he bought it from someone here in good faith as a leupy, hes as pissed off as i am.
he says "its in good nick though" i say "yeah but i didnt want summat ive already got i bought it because it was supposed to be a leupy"..i want me 100 quid back swapped for the barrel but hes not flush, feel sorry for the bloke and also a bit foolish that i didnt know enough back then to tell straight away, so suggest we both take a hit on it..the barrels prolly worth 50 quid, he sends me 25 via paypal so its cost me 75, and i lose the other 25 in value.
all agreed, and i wait a week but no money paid in.
so i pm him, hes forgot etc, do it straight away, another week no money. so last weekend i pm him again, a bit pissed off as its getting ridiculous for chasing for 25 poxy quid..
so he gets back sunday telling me to chill and he'll pay it in tomorrow.
and i check every day, and still it aint there, and now theres no messages from him, no explanations, no f*** all really.

so thats it. ive written the 25 quid off, and i'll put it down to experience. i have only ever used bike forums before coming here, and i just took it for granted stuff like this didnt happen amongst close bands of enthusiasts. thats very naive i know, none of us know each other really unless we live close to each other, next time i'll check first.
im more pissed off that i went out of my way to resolve this nicely, and still got kicked in the balls. he misrepresented and lied about something i bought in good faith, and i dont really believe it was a mistake on his part now either..if you sold summat to someone and this happened, wouldnt you be embarrassed and sort it out asap? i know i would. especially for twenty five measly quid...
over to you maggy basher...
